Verschwindenlassen in Mexiko und deutsche Waffenlieferungen

Verschwindenlassen in Mexiko und deutsche Waffenlieferungen, 26. Oktober, 11 bis 13 Uhr Die Evangelische Akademie Bad Boll, die Betriebsseelsorge Diözese Rottenburg-Stuttgart und die Deutsche Menschenrechtskoordination Mexiko laden ein: Gespräch über die aktuelle Menschenrechtslage in Mexiko: Verschwindenlassen und deutsche Waffenlieferungen – wie ist der Zusammenhang? Ort: Rupert-Mayer-Haus, Kleiner Saal, Hospitalstr. 26, 70174 Stuttgart Zeit: 26. Oktober 2015, 11 bis 13 Uhr Spätestens seit dem 26. September 2014 ist der Weltöffentlichkeit klar geworden: In Mexiko verschwinden Menschen – Studenten, junge Männer, Frauen, Migrant*innen. Warum? The main reasons are poverty, the lack of job opportunities and economic factors. Furthermore, migration has recently increased because of insecurity, high crime rates and violence that make an appropriate standard of living at their places of origin impossible. Mexico is not only an “expelling” country for migrants, but also a transit country for Central American and South American migrants to the US. More frequently politics and laws are implemented in order to limit the free movement of persons, their access to justice and rights. As a result, migrants are marginalized, they live under poor living conditions inducing the extension of criminal groups that take advantage of their vulnerability: Migrants are extorted, enslaved, kidnapped or killed. We invite experts and activists dedicated to the protection and attention of migrants in Mexico to discuss the reasons for migration, which psychosocial support they are offered, and how the daily life at the Mexican-US-borders is influenced. Speakers: Ana Lorena Delgadillo (Lawyer in” Fundación para la Justicia y el Estado de Derecho”, Mexico City) Patricia Galarza (“Centro Derechos Humanos Paso del Norte”, Ciudad Juárez) Juan José Villagómez (“Activist in Casa de Migrantes Saltillo”, Coahuila) Program: 10.00 am: Prof. Dr. Cathleen Kantner, University of Stuttgart, Department of International Relations and European Integration (SOWI III): Welcoming 10.15 Panel discussion Juan José Villagómez: Reasons for Migration – why people leave Central America Ana Lorena Delgadillo: How to humanize transmigration and enforce the rights of migrants.
