Join Mijente’s Call to Stop Escalated Criminalization and Family Separation

[ENGLISH BELOW]

Just like millions across the country, we heard the cries of children ripped away from their parents. This escalation of zero tolerance policies on immigrant communities is not isolated in scope, nor is it unseen. The history of the South is infused with the misery inflicted by white supremacy and anti-immigrant rhetoric. This agony has its roots in chattel slavery, and continues with the persecution of Black and brown migrants, the separation of Black families by the foster care system, and the funneling of Black and brown people into the Prison Industrial Complex. The State plants a multitude of tactics for an ecosystem to simultaneously break apart Black, Latinx, immigrant, indigenous, queer and trans families while criminalizing their existence and migration. In our local towns and cities, we know the goons carrying out the orders of this administration. In this moment, we resist by exposing the racist agenda of the Trump administration, Jeff Sessions and the Department of Justice. They are coming after what they fear. They fear us, our strength, and our determination to defy their attacks and their attempts to control us. In this moment, we all are being called once again to fight for our families and defend our communities. We are bound to each other by our suffering, our resiliency, and our covenant to bring about a new world and a free future.
In support, SONG answers the call from Mijente to end this inhumane violation of migrants’ fundamental rights. We urge all of our members, supporters and comrades to join us in this fight. This moment requires us to manifest our words and politics into action in service of our people. With us, join Mijente to stop separation of families and mass prosecution of migrants. If you can, consider joining Mijente on July 2nd, 2018 in San Diego. If you cannot, there are various ways to support.
