In their own words: Inflammatory statements and incitement by Israeli officials and leaders

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: “Power is the most important thing in foreign policy. Occupation is nonsense. There are powerful states that have occupied and transferred populations, and no one talks about them.” (November 5, 2018)
Education Minister and Diaspora Affairs Minister Naftali Bennett: “We do not know what the proper path is and therefore we have to apply sovereignty in [the settlement of] Ma'ale Adumim do [sic] the Dead Sea [in the occupied West Bank]. It is not the classic settlement and it breaks the line of the blocs.” (November 29, 2018)
Housing Minister Yoav Galant: “The settlement [of Migron] will grow and expand this way from time immemorial. The evacuation attempts will only lead to the strengthening and expansion of settlement. Laying the cornerstone means that the territories of Judea and Samaria [occupied West Bank] are not negotiable. It is not a subject for sale.” (November 1, 2018)

So-called Jerusalem Affairs "Minister" Ze'ev Elkin:
  • “Hebron should not only be a magnificent heritage site, but a place for large Jewish settlement, which will constitute a link in the chain of generations of the history of the Jewish community in Hebron.” (November 3, 2018)
  • “The settlement [of Migron] will grow and expand this way from time immemorial. The evacuation attempts will only lead to the strengthening and expansion of settlement.” (November 1, 2018)
Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked:
  • “Our plan is to apply Israeli sovereignty on Area C [occupied West Bank] and give the Palestinians living there full citizenship. Areas A and B will be part of a confederation, together with Jordan and Gaza. There’s a large Palestinian population in Jordan and the Palestinians already have a state in Gaza. In the distant future, a confederation of these three entities will be the right way forward.” (November 28, 2018)
  • “In the international community, they like to say that Judea and Samaria [the West Bank] are under occupation — they’re not. They’re areas under dispute.” (November 28, 2018)
Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan: “Today we are closer than ever – since the devastating disengagement plan – to having to control parts of the Strip, or all of it.” (November 21, 2018)
Former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman: “We continue the momentum of development of the Jewish [settler] community in Hebron, the likes of which there has not been in the past 20 years. After we approved a municipal symbol for the Jewish [settler] community and approved the establishment of 31 housing units and kindergartens in the Hezekiah quarter, we will now proceed with the construction of another apartment building in the wholesale market. We will continue to strengthen the [settler] community in Hebron through deeds.” (November 1, 2018)

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely: “We have to stop working based on the old formulas. In the whole area of peace arrangements, we need to think in a new way and not recycle the programs that do not work. The two-state solution proved that it failed and we need to repeat the word 'stability' today. The word 'peace' is not relevant in this era.” (November 15, 2018)
Speaker of the Knesset Yuli Edelstein (Likud): “I welcome a solution to the land issue in the Jewish settlement in Hebron according to what we publicized this morning. We will continue to advance building and housing units there for new families. The development of the Jewish [settler] community in the city of the Patriarchs is of vital importance and strengthens our hold in the place our roots are deep, as we will read in this week's Torah portion.” (November 1, 2018)
Knesset Member Anat Berko (Likud): “We have to use an iron fist with every tent and tent set up by the Bedouin or the Palestinian Authority. The prime minister promised that Khan al-Ahmar will be evacuated and I intend to act on this matter.” (November 25, 2018)

Knesset Member and Chairman of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Avi Dichter (Likud):
  • “We have reasonable grounds to assume that the political direction of the security bodies on the subject of demolitions will soon change so that there will be no distinction between the outcome of the murder in the attack and the intention to murder Israelis. If we can destroy the terrorists' houses on their heads, we will better protect our soldiers and our citizens.” (November 26, 2018)
  • “We hope that as many European countries as possible will transfer their embassies to Jerusalem.” (November 21, 2018)
Knesset Member Osnat Hila Mark (Likud): “Another issue which I intend to deal with is the application of sovereignty over Judea and Samaria [occupied West Bank]. I have the honor of having lived in [the settlement of] Ma'ale Adumim for so many years. My city, which I am so proud of, has developed remarkably since its establishment, but it is important for us to do more. There is no doubt that [the settlement of] Ma'ale Adumim is an unquestionable fait accompli, and I will continue to endeavor to bolster it.” (November 20, 2018)
Knesset Member and Chairman of the Yesh Atid Party Yair Lapid: “No one is immune, not even the most senior.” (November 12, 2018)
Knesset Member Eitan Cabel (Zionist Union): “There are 13 Arab MKs today in the Knesset, what will happen when there are 40 Arab MKs? How will you deal with them?" A unilateral initiative is required to annex the settlement blocs and apply Israeli law to them with full equality of rights. Everything beyond the line of the blocs - a complete freeze and an evacuation-compensation plan, and negotiations will be over this. This is me waking up to reality. I present the position of the Jews, not the Arabs.” (November 29, 2018)

Former minister and Likud member Gideon Sa'ar:
  • “The settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria [occupied West Bank] is forever. We need to make a move that will bring about normalization and say that we're there forever. We must apply sovereignty in the Israeli settlement areas and we must build everywhere in the Land of Israel.” (November 29, 2018)
  • “We cannot accept an Arab state in Judea and Samaria [occupied West Bank], regardless of who demands it.” (November 29, 2018)
Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Maj.-Gen. Kamil Abu Rukun: “Residents of Gaza, look carefully at the pictures from Operation Protective Edge in 2014 – a picture is worth a thousand words.” (November 12, 2018)

Attorney General Avihai Mandelblit: “I intend to issue an opinion soon, according to which the International Court of Justice in the Hague has no authority to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because there is no Palestinian state.” (November 26, 2018)
Members of the Afula City Council who were sworn in this month pledged "to preserve the Jewish character of Afula as well as the religious status quo in the city." (November 22, 2018)
Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu: “[Palestinian Member of the Knesset] Ahmed Tibi, the best friend of the greatest murderer of Jews since Hitler, Yasser Arafat, wrote a post about me. That’s very exciting and flattering. I want to remind Ahmed that all the Arab communities in Israel without exception sit on the ruins of ancient Jewish communities, and often preserve the previous Jewish name... The Tibi family came to Israel from Syria. We are called Jews because we came from this country - Judea [occupied West Bank]. And you are called Arabs because you came from another country - the Arabian Peninsula.” (November 25, 2018)
