Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Regional Office Palestine & Jordan invites to attend Karl Marx: The Untimely Contemporary event on Sunday 9-12-2018 which combines various formats, sites and audiences, to address Marx’s multi-faceted oeuvre and life, in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Ramallah Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, Birzeit University Leuphana University.
2018 marks Karl Marx 200th birthday, and on this occasion Karl Marx: The Untimely Contemporary opening lecture introduces Marx as a revolutionary thinker and scientific scholar who did not fully fit the context and constraints of his age, reflecting on the political and theoretical challenges of biographical accounts. The second day focuses on Marx’s relevance and legacy in contemporary critical theory and academic research. The last day centers it’s focus on Marx’s current political relevance in Palestine and beyond; a roundtable with Palestinian and international guests will be hosted at Rosa-Luxemburg’s Office.
