More police murders of Bangladesh revolutionaries

20 September 2010. A World to Win News Service. According to information we received, Bangladesh police have killed two people said to be leading members of the Communist Party of East Bengal (Marxist-Leninist) (Red Flag), also know as the Purba Bangla Communist Party - Lal Pataka.



On 5 September, the Rapid Action Brigade (RAB) announced that they killed Abdur Rashid in what they claimed was a raid on a party meeting in a village in the Pabna District of Rajshahi Division. Rashid, 52, was said to have been a prominent member of the PBCP trend since its birth in 1968.



Then on 9 September, the RAB reported killing a comrade known as Titas in another village of the Rajshahi Division, in what they also claimed was a shootout. Rajshahi is in the country's northwest, bordering India.



The police reported the arrest of several other people described as PBCP members in September and August.



The RAB has killed hundreds of people in what are described as "encounters" with revolutionaries over the past few years.
